On a scrappy roll

5 minutes here and 10 minutes there and I seem to be getting a lot of scrapping done :) I got these gorgeous My Minds Eye Vanity fair 6x6 papers from Sarahscards last week. I love, love, love them but I did wonder if I would use them - they are a bit feminine for me. But I had a play and here you go. James and I at the zoo taken by Sam. I was wondering about a title and was stuck on the word "together". I wanted the sentiment to be along the lines of I'll always be this close to him. Jack Johnson's "Better Together" popped into my head and would not leave - so I wrote out some of the song lyrics down the right hand side - the first Layout on this post was in my mind for the journalling.
I aged the pink thickers with a brown ink pad as they were just too pink. Finally I added some strips of my other new purchase this week - kawaii craft tape and added a little more journalling on it.

TFL folks - don't forget to say hi!

Pinterest inspires again

I was flicking through pinterest again the other night when I saw this:

I thought it would look gorgeous on a layout and I think I was right :)

This picture was taken on the way out of Sam's first visit to pre-school. He was SO happy and proud of himself. He insisted on taking a lunch bag with him even though he was only there for an hour. I've used 5 patterned papers so this one is going into the Sarahscards blog challenge in place of the last one as I like it way more :) (1. yellow checked 2. red circles 3. stripes 4. bunting 5. musical notes) I even got to use my new Jenni Bowlin sunshine stamp which I have been lusting after for ages :D

pRinterest

So I finally sucummed to joining pinterest. Big mistake in terms of spending time on there!! BUT fab finds in terms of printable stuff and activity ideas for school. Also quite a few good laughs to be had ;)

So I found some lovely printable note cards here and I wanted to use them on a LO straight away - so I did. I raided my scraps box and found some old papers that I think are Fancy Pants and used them along with one of the notelets, some Ocean Sunlight Cosmic Shimmer mist and some AC Thickers. It even qualifies for the Sarahscards current blog challenge as it has 5 patterned papers in it 1. blue/brown to matt photo 2. stripes to matt that 3. skull and crossbones stip across the middle 4. scenic route white/blue grid sheet with journalling on (it is pp, not just white!) 5. the 2 boys circles and the hand are cut from a sheet of pp in the same range. It started off as one of those LO's that I was thinking "this is pants" but after a few minutes faffing and a happy accident where I knocked it all sideways, I quite like it now :)

Mini Crop II

Helen and I had another mini crop yesterday whilst the kids had a play day. I had started this on Saturday whilst watching "It's a Wonderful Life" for the first time EVER- yes the first time EVER!!! It was worth the 35 year wait to finally see it :) Anyway.... I started this whilst it was on and finished it yesterday. Loads of Elle's Studio bits going on there and an Ikea craft tag from their Christmas wrapping line. The journalling is on a page ripped from a super cute notebook a gorgeous little girly from my last class gave me as an end of year gift. I doubt her mum realised how much I would love ripping it apart lol! I'm a huge fan of quick pages and do tend to scrap quite quickly, but even for me this was a super fast finish :) (well if you don't count all the time I spent faffing with kids and snacks and potty training whilst doing it) I then moved on to this one of James on his 7th birthday. I faffed and faffed. I find it much easier to plan LO's when I am all by myself (no offense Helen and the Eddie gang lol). I used another page from that super cute notepad and noted 7 things about James right now.

Don't know about you Helen - but I think we should keep this as a half term habit :)

Resist the Mist!!!

Well I already have mists, but I don't have any resist (yet!!) so when Lou's post on Sarahscards gave me an itch to resist I had to make do with masking instead. Still with me?? lol I made a sunburst mask (again inspired by Lou) and misted in red and blue to make the background. Then I used My Mind's Eye "Good Day Sunshine" papers to back the photo and make some tags. I used a few different stamps - stamping straight onto the LO. I am well known amongst my scrapping buddies for throwing a stash induced fit when I don't have enough alphas to make a title- this happened again with this LO. So I carefully cut the leftover colour from the backing piece of the blue alphas to make "gang".

It's not the usual "me" but I quite like it. Whatcha reckon?

Mini MINI crop

Talk about a super mini crop! Helen and her kiddies came over for a play day yesterday. The kids played in the garden/playroom and us mummies took over the dining room table and played with stash. For once Helen got more done than me ;) I had started this LO the night before and finished it off in between potty training, nose wiping, pizza making, cake sampling and cooing over baby George.I started this one off then finished it last night/this morning. I found the "I'm Wild About You" stamp just as I finished the LO. I wish I'd found it before I started as this LO would have gone in a totally different direction! I may rip it up and start again...

The poses are flamingo, penguin and monkey by the way!!!
